How to care for your Invisalign
Invisalign is by far our most popular form of orthodontics. Invisalign is considered invisible and it is removeable, making them more appealing than traditional metal braces.

Whether you are currently using Invisalign or thinking of having Invisalign treatment, here are 7 helpful Invisalign tips:

-
Drink water
Only drink water when you are wearing the aligner. Anything else could risk staining the aligner, your teeth or even causing tooth decay.

2. Wear the aligners for 20-22 hours per day
The aligners should ideally only be removed for eating and drinking. If you wear your aligners for any less than this, you run the risk of delaying your treatment.
If you have a special event, of course take them out. This is one of the many perks of them being removable.

3. Brush your teeth
We recommend you brush your teeth after every meal to remove any food particles, before wearing the aligners again.

4. Cleaning your aligners
We recommend cleaning your aligner daily with water, not using toothpaste or a toothbrush, as this can be abrasive on the aligner. Then clean once a week using either aligner cleaning crystals or sterident tablets. This is even more effective in a small ultrasonic bath which you can purchase from somewhere like Amazon.

5. Keep your aligners in the case
When you take the aligners out we would recommend storing them in the case provided. Otherwise, it’s not uncommon for the aligner to get put in the bin or even chewed by one of our furry friends. The phrase 'my dog ate my aligner' has been said many times.

6. Keep your old aligners
You will have regular appointments throughout your treatment, but should one of our clinicians not feel you are progressing at the right pace, they may ask you to return to a previous aligner. We recommend keeping all of the aligners until you have completed treatment.

7. Retention at the end of treatment
Wearing your retainers at the end of treatment is as important as wearing the aligners during treatment. Your teeth will want to move back into the position they were in. Your dentist will advise you on the best way to keep your teeth as they are.
